Introduction

SchemeServe can easily be customized to match your preferred company branding and design.

You can quickly change themes to reflect different colour schemes from the one provided by default. It is also possible to upload your company logo, change the background of the public pages and edit the text on your Homepage. Advanced users may also use CSS to change any aspect of the look and feel of all SchemeServe elements.

Before any changes are made, you must be signed into SchemeServe as an Administrator.


Website Admin Page

Go to Admin > Website. The General Tab should be selected by default. Find the 'Logo' section. Put the mouse over the logo box and click the link Upload logo file. Select the 'Browse' Button, browse to the desired file, select the file and select the 'Save Changes' Button. Your logo will be uploaded immediately, though it may take a minute or two to update everywhere on your site.


Changing your website colour scheme

Go to Admin > Website. The General Tab should be selected by default. Find the 'Colour Scheme' section. Select a colour from the list by clicking the appropriate radio button. The screen will change to the colour scheme selected immediately, though you must select the 'Save Changes' button to retain the changes and make them permanent.


Changing the background for the public pages

Website Page

Go to Admin > Website. Go to the Basic Customisations Tab. Find the 'Background Image' section. Put the mouse over the image box and click the link Upload background image file. Select the 'Browse' Button, browse to the desired file, select the file and select the 'Save Changes' Button. Your background image will be uploaded immediately, though it may take a minute or two to update to all of your public pages.


Editing SchemeServe web pages, including 'About Us'

  1. Visit Admin > Website.
  2. Click the 'Pages' tab.
  3. Click on the name of the article you would like to edit, or click 'New Page' to add a new one.
  4. Enter a title for the new page and enter the content for the page.
  5. Be sure to check the tickbox 'I would like this page to appear on my homepage navigation bar' if you want the page to be publicly accessible from your homepage.
  6. If on the other hand you will be linking to this page from another one of your pages, take note (or right click and copy) the URL from the box below "URL for this page (for linking from other pages)" so that you can use this to create a hyperlink from the other page.
  7. Save your changes by clicking 'Save page'.

Custom CSS

For web designers and developers familiar with the CSS language, we offer an option to drop CSS into your SchemeServe website, overriding any inbuilt CSS used by SchemeServe and therefore giving you full and complete control over the look and feel of all elements. Note: we do not support the CSS language itself, so please do not send support requests about the CSS language to our support staff. On request we may however be able to recommend books or training courses, or even produce CSS on your behalf on a contractual basis.

WARNING: this feature is for advanced users only and use of it is at your own risk. SchemeServe bears no responsibility for problems caused directly or indirectly by custom CSS you have entered using this facility.

IMPORTANT, you should never refer to external resources in your custom CSS using an unsecure link (do not use http:// use https:// instead). Not only may SchemeServe refuse to load that resource and leave your page in a 'broken' state, are you compromising the security of your site.


  1. To edit the CSS for your website, go to Admin > Website.
  2. Click the 'Custom CSS' tab.
  3. IMPORTANT: Always take a copy of any CSS found in the textbox on this page before making any changes.
  4. Enter the CSS you would like to apply into the textbox provided.
  5. Make sure you are happy with your CSS, once you save it there is no 'undo'!
  6. Click 'Save Changes' to apply the new CSS.

Experts Only: Custom JavaScript

You can add in custom JavaScript into your SchemeServe site by going into the 'Website' section.

Any custom Javascript you add will be applied throughout your SchemeServe website, allowing you to run custom code for a wide range of uses. Examples might be tracking, the replacement of text, translation etc.

Custom Html

You can add in custom Html into your SchemeServe site by going into the 'Website' section.

Any custom Html you add will be applied to the relevant sections of your SchemeServe website.

  1. To edit the Html for your website, go to Admin > Website.
  2. Click the 'Custom Html' tab.
  3. Enter your Html in the appropriate box. For example, entering Html in the Footer box will affect the footer on the Public Pages. (you can see an example of what's possible on our blog)
  4. Make sure you are happy with your Html, once you save it there is no 'undo'!
  5. Click 'Save Changes' to apply the new Html.

It may take a minute or two for all pages affected to be updated.
