The global Term Length is the length of term that will apply to new Cases created when you are not using user-configurable terms (see next section below).

Usually you need only change this value to apply a different Term Length to all new Cases for a given Scheme.
+
This method presumes that you will apply a fixed length for all policies created under a scheme and that you wish to pre-set that length.

You can change this value with the Scheme Editor, as follows:
+
#Follow the process for [[Editing Schemes|editing a Scheme]]
 +
#On the '''Advanced Tab''' set the Policy Length
 +
#Don't forget to click '''Save Changes''' before exiting

# Login to SchemeServe.

# Go to Admin > Schemes.

# Select the Scheme you would like to change in the dropdown box in the top left 'Scheme'.

# At the bottom, in the dropdown box labelled 'Policy Length', choose the value most appropriate to your scheme.

# Click 'Save Changes'.

That's it, you're done!  Any new quotes/Cases created for your Scheme will now have the correct Expiry Date based on the term you chose.

You can also allow your customers to choose Term Length during the Application/Proposal process.

To do so, you need to use the Questions Editor, as follows:
+

# Login to SchemeServe.

# Go to Admin > Questions.

# Select the Scheme you would like to change in the dropdown box in the top left 'Scheme'.

# You will need to add a new question to one of your pages.  This is where your customer will choose the Term Length.  Click 'Add a new question'.

# In the box that pops up, choose Answer Type of 'Policy Length Choice'.

# Now at the bottom of the window, choose all the term choices you would like to offer your customers by moving them into the right section.

# Click 'Save'.

# Don't forget to 'Publish to Get Quote' when you are happy with everything to publish your changes.

Now you've done this, any new customers will be asked to choose Policy Term Length as part of the Application/Proposal process. Any value they choose will automatically set the correct Expiry Date on the new quote/Case they create.
